Last week we began a new Sport Education Programme.
We began by working together to create teams.
Jodi set some criteria to ensure we had a mixture of boys/girls, Waimakariri/Ōtākaro children and a mixture of abilities in our teams.
We quickly learned that we had to be willing to be inclusive and willing to compromise to ensure we had a strong team bond.
Next we thought about the characteristics key members of a sports team demonstrate.
We thought about words to describe coaches, managers, captains and team players.
We then had the very tricky job of nominating ourselves or others for specific roles. We had to be able to justify why that person would suit the job.
We also learned about the duties we may need to perform when our team is the duty team. We might be a time keeper, grounds person, referee, lines person.
We are learning the skills we need to be successful team members and will also learn how to play the sports. This is a very exciting programme. Thank you Jodi - we appreciate the effort you've gone to to make this an awesome learning experience for us.
