We're looking forward to our final trip to Les Mills. The previous two trips have been such a success and we've loved having Daz as our instructor. Daz is unfortunately no longer avaliable next Tuesday and we've had to reschedule. Our trip will now be on
Wednesday 27th September 11 - 11:45am. Departing school at 10:45am If you have offered to assist on this trip and this no longer suits. Please let us know. Additionally, if you can now offer help we would love to hear from you. We have been working hard to develop our persuasive writing skills. We have had to convince our teachers of all sorts of things. Over the last two weeks we had to use excellent persuasive language to advertise a holiday to a dream holiday location. We spent the first week writing some fantastic advertising. Our focus was on the language we used, our punctuation and making our holiday sound unbeatable. We then used Adobe Spark Pages to create a wonderful online presentation All completed entries were judged by Jodi and Sam on Friday. The children who did the best job of using persuasive language, excellent punctuation and presented their work attractively received prizes. Check out our entries here. Congratulations to Emily who was our overall winner. Alannah, Jack, Tanner and Lily were second equal. Nethasa, Tayla, Keira, William and Hunter were Highly Commended. Te Wiki o Te Reo was celebrated this week. We spent time creating our own bingo boards with all the body parts labelled in Māori. The children worked so hard to create a quality piece of work. On Weneri we joined together with our younger buddy and played our game of bingo together. It was great fun. We also spent time creating koru patterns in art time. We used the reo for the colours and created a great display for our new space. Dom left St Albans School on Friday. In keeping with tradition Dom chose how he wanted us to farewell him. He asked for a lolly scramble so at the end of the day on Friday we all went out to the field and had lots of fun with Dom. We wish you well at your new school Dom. Jodi took the rugby team along to AMI stadium. They had fun playing some games and even won $500 of sports equipment for our school Thursday 14th September
Dear Parents/Caregivers Excitement fills the air as both year 5/6 hubs are physically back in the same building block after three terms in different locations. The difference is we’re in a newly built block and this time we are separated by a few doors rather than two stairwells. We’re all loving being back together. This term we have planned a Big Day In for Ōtākaro and Waimakairi children. It will be on Friday 22nd September. We will focus on the value of FUN. It’s a great chance for us all; children and teachers, to mix and mingle together and celebrate our completed space . Children can come dressed in mufti and we will provide a shared lunch of pizza and hot chips. Please advise us if your child’s dietary requirements have changed. Throughout the day, the children can opt into different activities. This will range from watching a movie; arts and crafts; sports, board and card games; spending time with peers and just simply relaxing. Thanks, Ōtākaro - Renée Kake, Jodi Archbold, Sam Pelham and Rachel Kelly Waimakariri - Carmen Aldridge, Bridget McGrath and Hollie Scadden We are finally in our new space ... ironically we were out for much of the day at golf! In the afternoon we were all back at school and had fun making a bingo game to play with our younger buddies on Wednesday afternoon. We made our game in Te Reo as this is Māori Language Week. Check us out in our new space, working hard. Today we finally got to go a real golf course! We had so much fun at Waitakari Golf Course where we put our skills into action by playing a team game of golf. We all had turns at driving, chipping and putting. Thanks so much to the parents who helped us make today such a success. A reminder that tomorrow - Monday 11 September, we are off to Waitakari Golf Course for our final Golf in Schools lesson.
